Tomaž Šalamun has published more than 35 books of poetry in Slovenian and 10 books in English. His many honors include the Preseren Fund Prize, a Fulbright, and a fellowship to the International Writing program at the University of Iowa. He also has served as Cultural Attaché to the Slovenian Consulate in New York. His poetry has been translated into more than 20 languages. He has won the praise of many poets, including James Tate, Robert Creeley, Robert Hass, who celebrates his "love of the poetics of rebellion," and Jorie Graham, who calls his work "one of Europe's great philosophical wonders." His latest collection is There's The Hand And There's The Arid Chair (Counterpath Press, 2009).

Michael Blake is the acclaimed author of the novel and screenplay Dances With Wolves, which won the 1990 Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay. He has received many awards for his public service, among them the Eleanor Roosevelt Award for work with minorities and the environment: the Animal Protection Institute's Humanitarian of the Year; the U.S. Air Force's Americanism Award; the American Library Association's "Hero of the Year"; and Cancervive's Survivor of the Year. His latest work is a memoir about life with a mustang rescue horse, Twelve, The King (Perceval Press, 2009).
