WINS: Neighborhoods

Nov 9 2011 11:23 AM

Writers in Neighborhoods & Schools (WINS) sends writers into community settings to share their passion for reading, writing, and the literary arts.  We partner with community organizations of all types to serve people of every background and life experience.  As many as 80% of the people we work with are considered at-risk, and we offer programs for children, adults, educators, seniors, families, and special constituents.

Writing workshops focus on the individual while building a community. Every sincere expression is supported, and thoughts, feelings, and experiences are valued. Our team of writing instructors enjoys exploring the imagination not only through reading and writing, but by intergrating visual art, music, ecology, history, scientific discovery, film-making, playwriting, and more. Mastery in the language arts provides an entree into leadership training, community volunteerism, and mentoring activities, to name a few.
